The NY State approved coursework for educators and healthcare professionals will be offered again at the Valhalla Campus of WCC on Wednesday, June 25 from 6 to 8pm

Lakeview Elementary School in Mahopac, NY has planned May for its annual bus tour for all fourth graders. an assembly has been sheduled and then students will visit Red Mills and Sybil's statue. an exact date in May has not been scheduled and will be set shortly.

A date has been planned for a Sybil Ludington fourth grade bus trip with author Vin Dacquino on May 6 and May 7 with the students of Fulmar Road Elementary School in Mahopac, NY. Three busses will go on Monday and an additional two on Tuesday.

Several authors from the Mahopac Library Writers Group will be signing their books at the annual Lake Case Community Tag Sale on April 26, 27, 28 from 9 -5. authors will include Vin Dacquino, Sheila McGlarry, Bob Zaslow, Joe Chiudina, Vincent O'Reilly and others.

Interested in joining an excellent writing group? Vin Dacquino will be meeting with the Pawling Library Writers Group on Wed. Dec 12 from 7 PM to 8:30 at the Pawling Library annex. That's 12-12-12 in case you missed it!! A lucky day for writers!

Author Vin Dacquino will do a presentation on Sybil Ludington for all of the 7th graders (approximately 300 students) in the Fox Lane High School theater at 8:25 AM on Dec 8, 2012  School begins at 8 AM and the kids will have to walk over from the middle school to attend the assembly.

The residents of Clover Lake will be taking a bus tour conducted by author Vin Dacquino. Participants will learn about Sybil Ludington who was a sixteen year old hero of the Revolutionary War. The trip  will take place on May 24 from 2:30 pm to 4 pm.

Vin Dacquino will be visiting Walter Panas School on May 23 to discuss history and writing with students in the library during periods two through five.

Author Vin Dacquino will be giving a sneak peek of his unreleased new book, SYBIL LUDINGTON OGDEN: A Grandmother's Story to Philipstown Brownies at the Putnam County Historical Society Center in Cold Spring New York on Sunday, May 20, at 3 pm.

Pawling's second official writing group meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 16th and continue meeting on the second or third Wednesday of each month following. The group will be supported by author, Vin Dacquino and the members of the Mahopac Writers group. The group will be open to all novice and experienced writers in the area.

The Kent Historical Society will be sponsoring a Sybil Ludington program at 1 pm on April 28. The trip will begin at the Kent Elementary school and will feature author Vin Dacquino as guest speaker. A BBQ will follow and there is no fee for the tour or BBQ. Come meet Sybil as she rides again!

Author, Vin Dacquino, will address the Otsego Chapter of the DAR in Cooperstown, NY at 10 am on April 21 to discuss Sybil Ludington, hero of the America Revolution. Dacquino is the author of Sybil Ludington: The Call to Arms.

Vin Dacquino will present a program on Sybil Ludington and the importance of researching history at the Cooperstown Middle School on the afternoon of April 20, 2012 and then address the high scool in the afternoon.

Vin Dacquino will be the keynote speaker for the Historians of Tarrytown's Annual Meeting, Thursday, April 19, 2011. This year it will be held at the new headquarters of Historic Hudson Valley, a beautiful place to hold a meeting and  reception. HHV Headquarters is on Bedford Rd., Pocantico Hills,(Route 448) across from Stone Barns. The evening will start at 7:30 with a wine and finger food reception. At 8:00 a short business meeting will take place followed by Dacquino's presentation starting about 8:20 and going to 9:00 followed by some questions for about 10- minutes. A brief reception will continue until about 9:30. I truly hope you are available and will be interested in this event.

A poetry celebration sponsored by the Friends of the Mahopac Library will be inviting the Mahopac writers Group to present their original works on April 15 in the community room of the library. More details to follow.

The Westchester Lower Hudson conference of Social Studies December Annual Conference will be held this year at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains NY. V.T. Dacquino will be amongst the many speakers of the day and will discuss his investigation into the life of Revolutionary war hero, Sybil Ludington

Vin Dacquino, author of Sybil Ludington:The Call to Arms and Hauntings of the Hudson River Valley will be presenting an overview of his historical investigations at the Tarrytown Marriott on 119 in Tarrytown at 12:15PM.

Vin Dacquino will once again take willing participants on a ghost tour through Carmel, NY. The visit to a cemetery, the County Court House (site of the 1844 hanging of George Denny) and the statue of Sybil Ludington will be approx.one and one half hours and free of charge. The tour will begin at Smalley's Inn at 12:30 pm and end at 2 pm. Participants are invited to have lunch with the author and visit with the ghosts in the Inn after the tour at their own expense and join him for an autograph session. Vin Dacquino will speak as part of the National Field Study of the Revolutionary Era in the Hudson River Region, Saratoga, and Hubbardton Battle Field (June 27-July 3, 2011) Vin will speak on June 28, Tuesday, as part of "Preserving the Past: The American Revolution in the Hudson Valley", at Philipsburg Manor,Route 9,Sleepy Hollow, NY. In addition to studying the powerful men and soldiers of the Revolution, the study will also address the rest of society and how everyone had choices to make and dangers to face during this era. The study will use the lenses of race, gender, social class, ethnicity, and religion during the field study and will examine varied perspectives on the era with regard to freedom, justice, and equality. Consideration will be given to the challenge of preserving history and discuss whose history should be preserved.

Vin Dacquino delivered a speech on George Denny, the only person to ever hang for a crime in Putnam County, as part of the County's 199th birthday celebration. At a presentation on George Denny at the Putnam County Court House on June 10, Vin Dacquino received a presentation of his own. The county of Putnam and the Putnam County Historian's Office recognized Mr. Dacquino for his "relentless search of history facts when writing (his) books. In (his) books, tours and presentations (he brings) history alive for young and old." The award was given on the occasion of the 199th anniversary of the creation of Putnam County.

The Kent Historical Society acknowledged Vincent Dacquino for "his continuing generous contributions to local history, teaching, and active sharing of his extensive knowledge of Sybil Ludington and for his support in the restoration of the Col. Henry Luddington Mill site and the Kent Historical Society's one room schoolhouse.

Vin Dacquino's relationship with Roy Campanella was highlighted on several pages in the recent biography of his long time friend Roy Campanella by Neil Lanctot.

Friends of History will welcome author Vin Dacquino at their April 7 monthly meeting. The Thursday program scheduled for 7:30 pm will feature insight from Dacquino's several books on history, including, Hauntings of the Hudson River Valley.

A work of art containing a photograph of author Vin Dacquino was donated by Renee J. Fleury of Fari Studios to Anthony Porto Sr., proprietor of Smalley's Inn. The Inn was a dominant subject in Dacquino's book, Hauntings of the Hudson River Valley. The photo will hang in the main ballroom on the closest wall to the window seat where Dacquino frequently sits to dine. Patrons of the Inn can now be haunted by Mr. Dacquino. Ms. Fleury is a freelance photographer and graphic designer.

Mr.Vincent Dacquino, a retired middle school teacher on special assignment to the sixth grade, will be adding an additional assignment to his busy roster. He will be doing an assembly/book signing on March 18 at the Colonial School for third, fourth, and fifth graders and their parents at 2:15 pm. Proceeds from the book sale will be donated to the PTA. The topic of the talk will be "Sybil Ludington: Female Hero of the Revolutionary War" as part of the school's March celebration of "Women in History Month".

Vin Dacquino, author and teacher, will address students in honor of Women in History Month. He will focus on his biography of Sybil Ludington, the female teenaged hero of the American Revolution.

Mr. Dacquino, long time teacher in Pelham and author of several books will meet the Prospect Hill PTA on March 10 at 9:15 am to discuss doing an assembly for third, fourth and fifth graders on March 14 at 1:30 pm for their monthly "Town Meeting." The main topic will be "Sybil Ludington-Teenage, Female Hero of the Revolutionary War." Plans will include an autograph signing and book sale as a fund raiser for the PTA.
